Evaluation marking

I liked the first evaluation post which identified codes and conventions whilst using existing videos to demonstrate these. We could have perhaps been slightly more explicit about the codes and conventions. The second evaluation entry is way too short and doesn't really analyse the digipak and website in relation to the video in enough detail. Again this post is lacking in enough detail. The help powerpoint asks for detailed feedback and the need to demonstrate an understanding of primary, secondary and wider audiences. This is a better post which explains the processes of making each aspect of the production. Production Marking

I think the editing for Amy's video is excellent. The ideas are all good although the video lacks a bit of narrative thrust. Some of the images feel slightly like filler but they have been well selected and edited together. The digipak works well and looks effective. The website is appropriate but lacks anything special to warrant a top level Level 4 The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills: • shooting material appropriate to the task set; including controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes and close attention to mise en scene • editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of shot transitions, captions and other effects • recording and editing sound with images appropriately Video- 34/40 Digipak- 9/10 Website- 7/10

Research and Planning Marking

I liked the SWOT analysis using Vocaroo although the Weaknesses and Threats sections were far longer than the Strengths and Opportunities! Like the prelim- good practice for lip synch. I felt the history of music videos post could have had more detail and dealt with the relationship between moving image and music. The codes and conventions were identified but there was no explanation into why these had developed as such. The codes and conventions of rock videos Prezi contained some good points but was often a little descriptive rather than insightful. I liked the post on theorists although there could have been more depth and explanation. Neale for example was barely explained. The analyses of Toxic and Temple were very thorough and excellent. The analysis of the previous student's video was also very good. Sound understanding of demographics. Prezi on institutions was short. Evaluation 4: Media Technologies

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? Above is a list of media technologies used and where I used them. Throughout the entirety of my project I used a number of different media technologies to help me with my filming and blogging. I used two different cameras, two different laptops, multiple social media sites and some photo and video editing programs. The two cameras I used were a 'Canon EOS10' and a 'GoPro Hero 3+'. The Canon was used for the shots of the bathroom scenes, angry scenes, lip-synching, tv scene, beach scenes and the swinging scene. The GoPro Hero 3+ was used for everything else, this being the things shot in Croatia, Montenegro and Mexico. I chose to use both of these cameras as they were the two best ones I have at home. The Canon is very good for high-quality shots with the lip-synching. It also fit on a tri-pod and meant I didn't have to hold it and worry about the shots turning...
