Evaluation 4: Media Technologies

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Above is a list of media technologies used and where I used them.

Throughout the entirety of my project I used a number of different media technologies to help me with my filming and blogging. I used two different cameras, two different laptops, multiple social media sites and some photo and video editing programs.
The two cameras I used were a 'Canon EOS10' and a 'GoPro Hero 3+'. The Canon was used for the shots of the bathroom scenes, angry scenes, lip-synching, tv scene, beach scenes and the swinging scene. The GoPro Hero 3+ was used for everything else, this being the things shot in Croatia, Montenegro and Mexico. I chose to use both of these cameras as they were the two best ones I have at home. The Canon is very good for high-quality shots with the lip-synching. It also fit on a tri-pod and meant I didn't have to hold it and worry about the shots turning out shakey. The GoPro had to be used in the other locations as I didn't take the Canon to either Croatia or Monetnegro. This is because I went to these places without my parents, they preferred that I didn't take it. The GoPro was the next best thing and I was able to fit it into my carry on bag. It also takes great handheld shots especially those underwater. It is a very nice camera to carry around it is small, light and great for POV shots which I think it showed off perfectly. Although it came out with a few shakey shots I think it held up well against the Canon.
With regards to editing I completed this on my Toshiba laptop that uses Windows. I had to use the laptop which runs Windows due to the fact that the editing program I use only runs of Windows. It is the one I am most familiar with and use the most. I have a fairly good knowledge of how to use that editing program compared to iMovie. It is something I have never really used. The editing program I use is Sony Vegas Pro 13. It is quite an advanced program compared to iMovie. I also debated using Adobe After Effects CC 2017 however decided against it as editing there takes too long. I didn't have extra time to spare. My MacBook Air would have been used to run Adobe After Effects. Although I did use my MacBook for other things. It was used to run PhotoShop CC 2017 to help create my Digipak as well as anything to do with my headers of avatars for my social media pages. It was also used to do all of my blogging on. To blog we used Blogger, this allowed us to keep track of our posts and create them in a varied, media rich way. We could embed different things like Prezzi presentations or even include links to voice memos speaking on certain posts. It also meant we could easily include links to YouTube videos and other social media.
I used different social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram throughout the blogging process. I used it to help with different ideas for scenes in the video, I also used them to keep in touch with my cousin who was the star in the video. It was very easy for us to plan when and where we were going to film with Facebook Messeneger. I also learnt a lot of things about how artistes can use social media to help with their sales and music video views. People like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber are two that are mentioned throughout my blog. Other social media typed sites like YouTube were a huge influence on my project. I embedded YouTube videos throughout my entire blog, using them as examples and influences. Without YouTube it would have been very difficult to conduct any research on my artiste and their videos. It also means I would have been able to see other videos of similar bands or people marketing to that target audience.
