Editing Diary

 For editing this video I used a program called 'Sony Vegas Pro 13'. I am very familiar with this editing software as I have been using it (or different variations) for  about five years now. I decided to use it for this project as it is the suite I am most fluent in, I know how to work the software much better than I know how to use 'iMovie' or 'Final Cut Pro' (both of which I also do have). Using the software will allow me to utilise my talents with Sony and create the best music video I could possibly make.

 I started editing virtually as soon as I could. As I used my Canon and my GoPro Hero 3+ it meant I was able to just copy over the clips from the memory card over to my computer. However, to make the editing faster I decided to not work from the memory crad. This also meant I could save a lot of space on my laptop due to the videos being is such high-quality. It was all shot in 1080p (HD) so it became quite difficult to edit in real time. It lagged quite often making it more challenging but I am used to this so I can edit and work around it. When I started editing, it was the Sunday after we filmed on the first weekend. I managed to edit the beach scenes, the angry scene and the lip-syinging scenes. This allowed some basic structure for the video and let me figure out where things were going to go in the video.

I edited for a few hours over the course of a couple of days. With editing it is really easy for it to become boring and lose interest, I really didn't want to do that because I know I would start editing in a sloppy way. So I made sure not to burn myself out and edit for a maximum of 4 hours a day (not including rendering time). It took me about 5 days of this to complete the actual project. I would get the clips from different scenes and work with those first, place them where I wanted them and then get the next scene and so on. I worked with the bathroom clips first, then the swings, beach and sparklers. The GoPro shots were all added in last. The video was so high quality that I didn't want the program to crash by improting everything at once (that happens quite often). I am very much used to using transitions and effects when editing as that is my main fortay. I tried to include some effects (RGB Shift and Black and White) however I thought transitions would make it look bad or silly so I avoided a lot of them. I did manage to get one in at the beginning, I used what is called a 'Venetation Blind' and I used it horizontally. This transtion is used in some movies, for example 'La La Land' had a beginning 'Venetation Blind' but it was vertically set.

Toxic – Britney Spears Music Video Analysis The chorus lyrics of the song come from the other person’s perspective, in this case, it is the male(s) in the video. They’re essentially saying that Spears herself is toxic as seen in the video, however, it could also be taken the opposite way saying how Spears is killing the ‘toxic’ men. The line ‘Don’t you know that you're toxic?’ again could come from someone else’s point of view aimed at Spears but then could be seen as a rhetorical question or said by Spears herself to the male characters. Storyboards

Storyboards Original Timeline/Storyboard: Below is the original storyboard which was created on the day of shooting. We wrote this down to help us decided what scenes we were going to film and when. We ticked off the scenes as we went through and we still had a few scenes we weren't sure about/what to place at certain points. This piece of paper was really just an hour of us jotting down loads of different ideas and checking which ones we liked/worked best. We chose to cut up the timeline into different sections talking about the different sections, we wanted to be as exact as we could. Different Scene Storyboard: Next I did a simple storyboard just showing the different scenes I would be having throughout the video. Intended Institution Analysis

Intended Institution Analysis Here is a Prezi I made including the institutions I think would publish my video. https://prezi.com/view/treUqiiORKPpfYaD0LQU/ As the genre of my video is alternative and rock, I think my video is more likely to be played on MTV Rocks or MTV Classics. These would be best suited to my video due to the fact that the target audience of my video will be watching these shows. These channels are more catered to the genre of my video. The TV schedule for MTV Rocks on December 6th 2017 As you can see, there are multiple different programs that Kings Of Leon and their songs could fit into. They could be included in 'Greatest Rock Videos of the century' as well as 'Rock Solid Playlist.' They may also do some sort of feature on the band as the ones mentioned in this schedule are ones of the same caliber.  The radio stations that may be more likely to play my music video are Magic/Magic Chilled or Heart.
