Digipak: First Designs

Digipak: First Designs
I had a few first designs of my digipak. I always used the photos that I have used now however I messed about with some of the text placement on the pages etc. Below are the designs I didn't choose.

Front Cover:
The front cover was something I thought about the most, it was the only page where I had more that three original designs. The second design out of these four was one I really considered using, the other three I wasn't as keen on. It was a toss up between that second cover and the one I decided upon. I really liked the fact of the thinner font and the thicker one. It looks very pleasing to the eye and isn't heavy. However, I didn't like that half of the LEGO figure had been cut off.

Page 2:
These were two designs I just couldn't get behind. There is something off with both of them which I didn't like. I think the bolder font in the second design is quite off putting and looks too heavy on the photo. It draws too much of a focus. The first one I think is off because you cannot see the full set of words. I think that would've worked better with a thicker text.

Page 3:
These are the two designs I decided against using. I didn't like the first one on the left because it seems very busy. It looks like too much on the page, it is not very pleasing for the eye to read. I also don't like the placement of the LEGO figure of where the writing credits are written. I almost choose this second one because I think it is very nicely layed out. I think the placement of the LEGO figure is good. However I still think it looks very crampt and squashed. Also, the thickness of the font which the lyrics are written in is not thick enough. I think some people could struggle to read it.

Pages 4 & 5:
For these two pages I knew that I was going to take just two plain pictures for these two pages. I knew that they had to include a LEGO figure however I wasn't quite sure what to do for them. I contemplated using just a plain colour in the background however thought it would look too similar to the front cover or back cover plan. When I thought of using my laptop screen in the background I took the pictures straight away and didn't actually take any pictures other than. I thought that if they didn't turn out well then I could just go back and take more. Luckily they worked, the only problem was that there was some glare from the background and the colours looked slightly odd so I made the background black and white. This also ended up helping the LEGO figure stand out.

Back Cover:
The back cover was something I knew I was going to use this photo for. As soon as i took it I was thinking that it would make a great back cover. I've seen in other pictures artists may use a different variation of the front cover just like this. I did like the first one because it was quite hard to read the text and the second one I felt looked to much like the front or like it could be the front.
