SWOT Evaluation of AS
Here are some links to audio files of me talking about my previous work last year. If they do not work, there is a rough explanation of what I said below.

Last years work was not a piece that I particularly liked however surprisingly there were actually a few good things about it. The camera work and variation were very strong. Within the first 20 seconds, we had numerous different shot types i.e. long, short etc. The opening shot was very conventional for the genre of film. It gave the audience some insight to where the location is and setting the scene. Throughout the video, there are POV shots which give the opening a more personal view. This adheres to the childlike genre. The actors playing the characters are also very conventional. They're the age of the target audience who would be watching.
There were a number of weakness', one of these were the handheld shots. All the handheld shots used in this sequence were incredibly shakey. They didn't look good and took away from the storyline. It was distracting. There was also no use of a tripod which didn't help the shakey factor. The editing was slightly messed up when the audio didn't match what was being said. We had an issue where the children didn't say the lines correctly but we didn't completely realise until post-production when it was too late to film with them again. The separate audio we had recorded was different so at some points, you could notice they weren't saying the correct things. There were more issues with sound when the music we had was too loud when being overlayed to the opening. It didn't fade in and out very smoothly. Parts of the costumes that we used in the opening piece were handmade, they were very temperamental and caused a lot of issues. This being with continuity as well as time. Buttons on the capes kept falling off so we ended up with a different amount to what there was in the beginning. Time ended up being one of the biggest enemies in this project. The lack of it meant that we didn't have time to do re-shoots. The child we used were also working actors (that I happened to know personally) so had busy schedules which we found it hard to fit around.
After filming we realised the opportunities we had could have been to use a different camera. I have both a GoPro and and Canon DSLR. These may have been more suitable that what we were using. We may have been more comfortable using them. We also had the opportunity after of filming in a different park. There was a possibility that we could have used a different park nearer to my home. This may have made things easier. It is much quieter and no where near as popular as Belfairs (where we shot).
The main threat that occurred during our time last year was timing. We didn't properly do any time management so although we got a lot of footage, the filming was rushed and wasn't done to the best of our abilities. The children as mentioned above, are busy working actors and models so it was hard to find time to fit in with their schedules. Another threat was the equipment we used. We used a basic camcorder that neither of us was very familiar with. Although it was easier to figure out how to use it, looking back we would've been more comfortable with another one that we had used before. Another threat was our location, we had to make sure not to include any clips that would be able to identify other children in the background. As it is a public place, we tried to film at a time where we thought there would be limited numbers of people. However, our actors were late due to no fault of their own so it meant that there were more people there than we had planned for.
